Medical Student Op-Ed

Calling all medical students! The Virginia Dermatology Society invites medical students to contribute thoughtful, personal, and insightful op-eds on relevant and timely dermatologic topics for inclusion in future VDS Dermatoscope E-Newsletters. This section is dedicated to amplifying student perspectives and sparking meaningful dialogue.

What We're Looking For:

• Medical student perspective: Submission by M1, M2, M3, M4, or MD/PhD students 
• Dermatology-related: Focus on dermatologic topics, preferably current issues/conversations at the forefront of the field 
• Opinion-driven: References can be used as support, but prioritize individual reflections and commentary
• Originality: Submissions must be original, unpublished work

Format & Length:

• Maximum 700 words (not including title and references)
• Include full name, medical school name, and medical school year

Suggested Topics (but not limited to):

• Memorable dermatology patient experiences
• Ethical conversations within dermatology
• Diversity and equity within dermatology
• The future of dermatology
