The Mission of the VDS is to support its community of Dermatologists united in the promotion of Leadership, Education, Advocacy, and Professionalism in order to deliver the highest standard of care.
The goal of Virginia Dermatology Society is to provide opportunities for professional networking, building local peer relationships, advocacy and a voice on local legislative issues, educational and community service opportunities, as well as leadership development.
Residents and students have the opportunity to interact with trainees and attendings from other Academic programs and meet community dermatologists from across the Commonwealth.
Diversity Statement: Diversity is defined by the Virginia Dermatology Society as age, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, disability, practice modality and geography. Acknowledging, respecting and valuing differences. An inclusive approach to people, ideas and practice styles includes a willingness to listen to all points of view. The result is collectively better because the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
The VDS was awarded the AAD Model State Award in 2019. This award recognizes state society achievement in a number of areas including: Education, Patient support, Community service, Legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts, and Membership outreach and development. See the video announcement here.
